According to Alfaro, the conversations with Messi's entourage have taken into account the club's history and its recent achievements, including two ascents to professional football in the last three years. The mayor has also confirmed that the town hall has subsidized the club with more than four million euros since it became a sports association in 2022.
The club, which currently has around 3,500 season ticket holders in a city of over 55,000 inhabitants, will continue to receive municipal support if Messi's potential takeover is confirmed. The Nuevo Pepico Amat stadium, home of CD Eldense, has a capacity of around 5,800 spectators.
