The problem was that Fernández's movement prejudiced the action of Lisandro Martínez, and the VAR team should have called the referee to decide. However, this did not happen, and the goal was validated. The Premier League has admitted that the VAR team made a mistake, and the correct decision would have been to call the referee to assess the situation.
