Manchester United are selling pieces of their Old Trafford pitch for £125 each. The first batch of turf cubes, measuring 7x7cm and presented in glass cubes inside a black case, has already sold out. The club's website describes the cubes as a "priceless memento of iconic games played at home and keeps the memories of matchdays alive". This unusual initiative comes as Manchester United continue to invest in their future, with £63.5m spent on buying land for their new stadium, which is expected to cost more than £2bn overall. The club has also confirmed that the Old Trafford pitch was dug up this summer for the first time in 14 years and stripped back to its foundation.
