Liverpool has agreed to pay around €35 million for the young Belgian goalkeeper, with PSV set to receive a significant sum due to an education compensation. According to Rik Elfrink of the Eindhovens Dagblad, PSV will receive multiple tons as a result of this compensation. The Eindhoven club has a right to claim three times 0.25% of Brughmans' future transfers, which amounts to €225,000 in this deal. This is due to Brughmans' time in PSV's youth academy from the age of 12 to 14. VoetbalPrimeur reports that Liverpool sees a lot of potential in the young goalkeeper and considers him a possible future replacement for Alisson Becker. The transfer has been accelerated due to the possible transfer of Liverpool's second goalkeeper, Giorgi Mamardashvili, to Nottingham Forest, as well as interest from other top European clubs. Brughmans will remain active with KRC Genk for at least one more season, with Liverpool loaning him to the Belgian club to further develop his skills before making the permanent move to England.
