Broholm, who played 56 matches and scored 19 goals for Rosenborg, was not a priority signing for Lille OSC last summer. The Norwegian international was followed by Lille's recruitment team for a long time before being signed, but failed to make an impact under former manager Bruno Genesio. He lost his place in the team after the winter break and was keen to regain playing time.
With new manager Davide Ancelotti at the helm, Broholm's chances of regular game time seemed uncertain. As a result, he has requested to join Utrecht on loan for the season, as announced by Voetbal International. The loan deal does not include an option to buy, despite Broholm being under contract with Lille until 2030. This move will give Broholm the opportunity to regain his form and playing time in the Eredivisie, while Lille OSC will be able to assess his development without being tied to a long-term contract.
