Klopp's central focus is on the senior national team, which he sees as his top priority. He plans to visit a few clubs and players before the start of the new era, in order to get to know them better and understand what drives each individual. This approach is in line with his long-term thinking, as he aims to build a sustainable team that will last for several years.
In his first DFB interview, Klopp revealed that he has already familiarised himself with initial procedures and made contacts with Bundesliga coaches. He has also been welcomed warmly by the employees at the German Football Association (DFB) offices, which has made the transition to his new role smoother. Despite the disappointment of Germany's exit at the FIFA World Cup, Klopp sees no need for a hard reset and is instead focusing on building a strong foundation for the future.
The first squad under Klopp's leadership will be named between Matchdays 3 and 4 of the upcoming Bundesliga campaign, and the team will then undertake a training camp in Herzogenaurach from 20 September. Germany's first game under Klopp on home soil will be against Greece on 27 September at the WWK Arena in Augsburg.
