According to Atangana, Juventus' negotiation with Kessié did not begin in the first days of the transfer window, but much earlier, when the player decided he wanted to join the club. The agent claims that Kessié turned down several offers from other clubs, some of which were financially more lucrative than what Juventus had to offer. Atangana also stated that Juventus' concrete offer only materialised in the final days of the transfer window, which was significantly lower than the terms initially envisaged.
Football Italia reports that Atangana believes Juventus' management had either lost or never fully possessed the required conviction and determination to sign Kessié. The agent also thanked Juventus' coach Luciano Spalletti for showing great appreciation for Kessié and motivating him to remain available until the end.
Kessié has since signed a three-year contract with Atalanta, with an option for a further campaign. Atangana concluded that the Percassi family, who own Atalanta, had sensed Kessié's discomfort and spoke with him about the history between Kessié and the club, which made the difference in his decision to join.
