Cedric Hatenboer has signed a four-year contract with Sparta Rotterdam, returning to the club where he previously played in the youth development. The 21-year-old midfielder comes over from RSC Anderlecht, with whom he had a definitive transfer until mid-2030. VoetbalPrimeur reports that Hatenboer debuted in paid football in 2024/25, initially joining Excelsior Rotterdam before moving to Belgium with high expectations. However, his stint in Belgium did not meet expectations, and he was later loaned to Telstar.

Hatenboer's return to Sparta Rotterdam is seen as a direct strengthening of the club's midfield, with Gerard Nijkamp, the club's director, stating that the player was always the desired signing. The club is pleased to have secured Hatenboer's services, adding a talented player with experience to their A-selectie.
