Quiermo Dumay, a player for IJsselmeervogels, suffered facial injuries and lost teeth after allegedly being hit by Van Beukering. The incident took place at Sportpark De Westmaat, where both teams were seeking the locker room during a 0-2 scoreline. According to RTV Utrecht, Dumay received a punch in the face as he entered the player's tunnel.
GVVV has released a statement condemning the incident and promising to take action. "The board of GVVV regrets the course of events after the first half of the away match against IJsselmeervogels," the statement reads. "GVVV distances itself from what happened and strongly condemns it. The board will take appropriate measures as soon as more details about the situation are known."
IJsselmeervogels trainer Willem Leushuis described the incident as "angstaanjagend" (frightening). The team decided not to continue playing and filed a complaint. Dumay made the transfer from GVVV to IJsselmeervogels this summer, playing against his former club at the time of the incident.
