The duo arrived in Rio de Janeiro and will be announced as new reinforcements for the Rubro-Negro team. Both players are considered promises in their respective countries and will increase the options for coach Leonardo Jardim. Anthony Valencia, 23, came to Rio on Sunday from Royal Antwerp in Belgium, while 19-year-old Joaquín Freitas arrived on Monday after leaving River Plate in Argentina.
Valencia, who plays as a right winger, is known for his speed and dribbling skills, similar to those of Gonzalo Plata, who recently left for Dynamo Moscow. Freitas, on the other hand, is a second striker who has already been called up for the Argentina national team. He made his professional debut at 18 and has since become a regular in the River Plate team.
