In 2020, Flamengo spent R$ 262,785 million in 8 reinforcements, while Palmeiras spent R$ 62,231 million in 5 reinforcements. The gap in spending has continued to widen in subsequent years, with Flamengo's investment in 2022 reaching R$ 186,811 million in 10 reinforcements, compared to Palmeiras' R$ 139,301 million in 8 reinforcements.
The financial disparity between the two clubs has been a topic of discussion in recent weeks, with Palmeiras coach Abel Ferreira acknowledging Flamengo's spending power. "The Palmeiras may try to buy (players) and try to buy to balance, but compare where the Palmeiras coach trained and where the coach of Flamengo trained," Ferreira said.
