UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin and CONCACAF President Victor Montagliani have written a letter to Infantino, suggesting that FIFA's financial reserves be independently audited. They propose that each national association receive at least $10 million during the 2027-2030 cycle, which would amount to almost two billion euros in total. The funds would be used for infrastructure and football development.
This move follows the failure of the FIFA Forward Enterprise-plan, which Infantino wanted to sell a stake in FIFA tournaments, including the World Cup, to external investors to raise more money for football development. The proposal was met with significant resistance and was eventually withdrawn.
