UEFA and Concacaf are stepping up their efforts to oust FIFA president Gianni Infantino, calling for $10 million payments to each of the 211 member federations from FIFA's swelling cash reserves. This move is a clear counter to Infantino's offer of $20 million for each federation to support his now-failed project to sell stakes in the World Cup to private investors.
The letter, signed by UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin and Concacaf leader Victor Montagliani, claims that FIFA should have cash reserves of $6 billion after the World Cup and can afford a "one-off release" of $2.1 billion to the federations. This would total $10 million for each federation.
The UEFA and Concacaf leaders want a full and independent analysis of FIFA's finances ahead of an Oct. 15 meeting in Zurich, to help decide how much money can responsibly be given to member federations.
