The KNVB believes that FIFA needs new leadership, but a new president alone is not enough. The current leadership structure must also change, with the president no longer interfering with daily business. The KNVB wants to reform FIFA into an organization with more room for accountability, transparency, and control, where the president's power is significantly reduced. The chairman should no longer be involved in daily operations, and the new leadership should be controlled by independent supervisors and provide regular updates in press conferences.
The KNVB sees a significant role for the Netherlands in organizing a top in Amsterdam, a city with a special place in the history of FIFA. The proposed top would be open to everyone who is open to a new FIFA, potentially including representatives from all continents and all 211 football associations. Gianni Infantino himself will not be present at the meeting, as the KNVB has lost trust in him and considers him to be part of the past.
The KNVB is still unsure about the exact date for the top, but has a strong preference for a date before the FIFA presidential elections on 18 March 2027 in Morocco.
