Ferri's goal in the 18th minute was initially thought to be a shot that went wide, but it was later confirmed that PEC Zwolle defender Simon Graves deflected the ball, making it impossible for goalkeeper Jasper Schendelaar to stop it. Ferri went on to score two more goals in the 0-7 win.
Ferri's achievement has earned him a place in the Eredivisie record books. He is now the second Feyenoord player to score a hattrick after his first goal in the Eredivisie, following Harry van der Laan in 1990.
