Enzo Fernández has stated his ambition to be part of a team that competes for and wins every trophy, after joining Manchester City in a British record-equalling deal. The Argentina midfielder made the move from Chelsea, where he won the Club World Cup and the UEFA Conference League, but believes he can achieve greater success with City.
Fernández has praised the club's history and ambition, saying: "Manchester City have to win every trophy they compete for. In every competition we play in, we have to compete and win, because this club's history demands that." He also expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to join the club, stating: "I'm grateful for the opportunity. It's a very emotional moment for me and my family, to take this step at 25 years old, in a football career that I always dreamed of."
The 25-year-old midfielder has already linked up with his former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca at City, and is looking forward to spearheading the challenge for more trophies. Fernández's arrival completes a rapid refresh of the squad following the departure of long-serving manager Pep Guardiola.
