Union's new signing has a profile that isn't easy to find in this market, according to managing director Horst Heldt. "Felix has a profile that isn't easy to find in this market. He's strong in tackles, very good in build-up play and knows the demands of this high level from many years in the Bundesliga and playing for a top club in the Turkish Süper Lig. We believe he will give our defence important impetus." Uduokhai himself added, "This move feels the right step at the right time. I've missed the Bundesliga and wanted to be part of an ambitious club. Union gave me a clear image from the start of what we want to achieve together. I'm excited to meet the team, take on responsibility and enjoy many special moments with the team and the fans."
The 28-year-old's senior career started at 1860 Munich before joining Wolfsburg ahead of the 2017/18 campaign. He made 37 appearances for the Wolves before joining Augsburg in 2019 and, across the next five years, he featured 124 times. His last two campaigns have been spent in Türkiye, while he has also played in the UEFA Europa League.
Uduokhai will kick off his Union Berlin career against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday (3.30pm CEST) in the Bundesliga.
