The club's general director, Edo Keuning, expressed his disappointment, stating that the evening's events were 'unacceptable' and posed a danger to players, staff, and supporters. He stressed that the misbehaviour was not representative of the club's supporters, citing the thousands who had shown their support in a positive manner.

FC Utrecht will review available camera footage to identify those responsible and will take appropriate action. The club has also announced that the remaining match against Go Ahead Eagles will be played behind closed doors on Tuesday, September 8, at 14:00.
