FC Lorient's preparation for the new season has been marked by two consecutive friendly defeats, following their 1-2 loss to Angers last week. The team's Swiss goalkeeper, Yvon Mvogo, was in the starting lineup for the match against Elversberg, which was played in Germany. Mvogo was quickly into action, but was unable to prevent Lukasz Poreba from scoring a stunning volley after a rebound in the 13th minute.
The match was dominated by Elversberg, who extended their lead through Noah Darvich and Luca Schnellbacher. Bingourou Kamara, who replaced Mvogo in the 60th minute, was unable to prevent Campbell from scoring Elversberg's fourth goal. Mamadou Koné scored a consolation goal for FC Lorient, but it was not enough to prevent the heavy defeat.
FC Lorient will now look to regroup and find solutions for their Ligue 1 opener against Nice on August 22nd.
