Souza, a former Vasco player, is making his coaching debut in the Quarta Divisão do Rio with FC Rio de Janeiro. He faces Búzios at Estádio Los Larios at 14h45. Souza, who is also a psychologist and the team's patron, aims to inspire his players to achieve their goals.
Souza had a marked career as a player, with spells at Grêmio, São Paulo, and international clubs. He ended his playing career in a way he did not want. He returned to Vasco in 2024 with friends Philippe Coutinho and Alex Teixeira, but his stint was short-lived. He is now using his achievements and experience to inspire other players who dream of a professional career.
As the team's patron, Souza has been financially supporting the group and using his name to seek backing for the team. "Here, we're coaches, psychologists, and we need to find sponsors. It requires a lot from me, as I spend almost the whole day sorting out these resource issues," Souza said.
