Ebbsfleet United's suspension from the National League South has been extended by another match at least. The club was given a deadline of 5pm on Tuesday, August 18 to provide satisfactory evidence that they can meet their financial obligations for the upcoming season. However, the National League's Compliance and Licensing Committee decided to continue the suspension after reviewing the club's compliance with league rules and regulations.

The club's debt to HMRC for PAYE arrears remained outstanding and the winding up order was still in place. Ebbsfleet United will not be able to fulfil their fixture against AFC Totton on Saturday, August 22. The club remains subject to an embargo, which they have been under since July. Ebbsfleet's manager, Josh Wright, a former player for Millwall, Leyton Orient, and Gillingham, will have to wait until August 26 to see if the suspension will be lifted.

Ebbsfleet United was founded in 1946 as Gravsend and Northfleet, and changed its name to Ebbsfleet in 2007. The club has never been in the EFL, having been relegated from the National League in the 2024/25 season. Their opening three games have been postponed, and it remains to be seen when they will be able to return to action.
