Roma striker Donyell Malen, who has been in exceptional form at club level, scoring six goals in five Serie A appearances for Roma so far this season, will not participate in the Nations League. He also has one assist in a single Champions League game. Malen's record for the Dutch national team is 13 goals in 56 senior caps, making his debut in September 2019. The Netherlands are in Group 2 with Germany, Serbia and Greece, beginning their campaign against the Germans on September 24. Guus Til and Mexx Meerdink have been called up to replace injured Justin Kluivert and Malen. This is the second blow for Roma, as Wesley also withdrew from the Brazil team for international duty with a muscular issue.
