Their first test came at home against Bundesliga opposition in RB Leipzig. Martin Baturina made history as the first ever player to score a goal for Como in the Champions League, involved at the beginning and the end of the move that led to the goal. The Croatia international wriggled his way out of traffic just inside the Leipzig half before sending Tasos Douvikas on a run down the right flank. Baturina made his way into the area, received the cut-back from Douvikas thanks to a helpful deflection, sent several Leipzig defenders to the shops with his check in the middle of the area before hammering past Maarten Vandevoorft for 1-0. The match between Como 1907 and RB Leipzig took place during the UEFA Champions League 2026/27 League Phase MD1.
