Coach Tobias Strobl made the comments in an interview with Sky Sport Germany, stating that as a coach he must be cautious with what he says, but as a person he would advise Eriksen to stop playing. Eriksen has not played since June this year, when he collapsed during a training match for Denmark against Ukraine. The incident was reminiscent of a similar incident in 2021, when Eriksen suffered a heart stoppage during a European Championship match between Denmark and Finland, and was fitted with an ICD (under the skin defibrillator). The ICD did its job in June, allowing Eriksen to quickly recover and return to his home country for further treatment. Voetbal International reports that Eriksen is still under contract with Wolfsburg for one more year, and the club is currently in fourth place in the Bundesliga.
