Ceadach O'Neill has won his first two Northern Ireland caps in June friendlies against Guinea and France. According to Michael O'Neill, Northern Ireland's manager, the squad is only picked on merit. However, it has been claimed that O'Neill would never take Fifa eligibility rules into consideration when selecting his squad. This stance is reflected in his decision to include Ceadach O'Neill in the squad. O'Neill has returned to the Northern Ireland job in 2022 and does not feel it is fair to ask teenagers to make irreversible decisions on their international future.
