However, Bahia and Flamengo voted against the change. Boto's comments highlight the ongoing debate surrounding the CBF's proposal, with some arguing that it will benefit Brazilian football and others believing it will have a negative impact.
The CBF's proposal also includes a change to the registration of players, with the aim of promoting the development of young players. From 2024, clubs will be able to register 50 players in the Brasileirão, with at least 20 of them being under the age of 23. This change is intended to be gradual, with the aim of reaching a ratio of 25 players over 23 and 25 players under 23 by 2030.
