According to The Times, Cameroonian football federation officials have demanded an explanation over a payment of over €500,000 made by Russia to the personal account of their president, Samuel Eto'o, following a friendly match between the two countries in October 2023. The officials claim they have not received any information since they lodged a complaint with the FIFA ethics committee over a year ago. Eto'o has recently publicly supported Gianni Infantino's re-election bid as FIFA president, and the Cameroonian federation's president has also backed the FIFA Forward Enterprise project, which aimed to sell shares of the World Cup to private investors and support Infantino's re-election.
