Red Cards Overshadow Pre-Season Friendly Draw
Alex Scott and Real Betis' Antony were sent off in a pre-season friendly match between Bournemouth and Real Betis. The match ended in a 2-2 draw. The flashpoint came just before half-time after Betis' Nelson Deossa kicked the ball at Bafode Diakite. This sparked a brawl between players from both sides, with Scott and Antony pushing each other before they were both shown a red card by the referee.
The match itself was an evenly contested affair. Marcus Tavernier gave Bournemouth the lead in the 41st minute. Cucho Hernandez equalised for Betis in the 57th minute, before Evanilson put Bournemouth back in front. Pablo Fornals levelled again for the La Liga side late on.
The red cards shown to Scott and Antony will likely be a concern for both clubs, particularly given the upcoming Premier League season. Bournemouth's final pre-season friendly is against German side Mainz on 15 August, before they begin their Premier League campaign against Manchester City on 23 August.
