Tedesco's ban comes after he was sent off from the touchline for dissent during Bologna's 2-2 draw with Sassuolo. The coach continued his protests in the tunnel after the match. This behaviour has now been punished with a two-match ban. Meanwhile, President Saputo was penalised for using offensive language towards the officials on the touchline, continuing this attitude in the tunnel, and he has been suspended until September 30.
Gaetano, who plays for Atalanta, was given a one-match ban and €10,000 fine for insulting the referee at the final whistle of their defeat to Roma. He had been shown the red card, although coach Maurizio Sarri denied there had been any insults. This punishment is in addition to the two-match Serie A ban and €5,000 fine he received for his actions during the match.
Bologna will now have to do without two of their chiefs going forward, with Tedesco and Saputo both serving their respective bans. The team will have to regroup and find a way to move forward without their coach and president.
