Montero's absence will be a significant blow to Boca Juniors, who will have to rely on Leandro Brey, the team's habitual substitute, to fill the gap. Brey has 43 appearances for Boca Juniors and has kept 19 clean sheets, conceding 27 goals. He was already chosen by the team for their 3-1 win against Central Córdoba last Friday.
Montero will join the Colombian national team for their matches against Mexico on September 26, Paraguay on October 2, and Peru on October 6.
