Van Duijl's development into a determining player in Leeuwarden has caught Vink's attention. "Billy van Duijl moet echt genoemd worden", Vink said in an interview with Dit Was Het Weekend of ESPN. "Je zag al gelijk dat er iets meer rust in het elftal kwam. Hij heeft zoveel voetbal van achteruit."

Vink is surprised by AZ's decision to loan out the 21-year-old defender. "Ik begrijp het echt niet", he said. "For Cambuur, it's great, but this young player could have and should have played in AZ's first team." Van Duijl has already shown his versatility by ending up in the aanval during games and even on the linksbuitenpositie, where he provides assists.
