Al Taawoun has been fined 100,000 riyals ($26,660 / £19,796) for the incident. The club has also been ordered to play their next two home Saudi Pro League matches behind closed doors. The chants were made during Al Hilal's 6-0 win at the King Abdullah Sport City Stadium. Diogo Jota tragically passed away in July 2025, when the car he was in crashed in Zamora, Spain. Rúben Neves, a close friend and former teammate of Jota, was seen reacting to the chants. Neves appeared to react sarcastically, applauding and giving a thumbs up to the supporters before pointing to the sky and his own eye, and then in the direction from which the chanting was coming from.
