According to BBC Sport Scotland, all three under-fire Scottish Premiership managers - Stephen Robinson of Aberdeen, David Gray of Hibernian, and Neil McCann of Kilmarnock - are in desperate need of a pressure-alleviating victory.
Aberdeen have struggled this season, with four points and two goals in five Premiership fixtures. Despite Robinson's attempts to hush the negative noise, the Dons' alarming performance level has turned up the heat from a growing number of disgruntled fans. A 3-0 victory over Dundee in the previous round has been the standout display from Robinson's team so far this term, and a repeat at Rugby Park on Saturday would ease the pressure somewhat.
Kilmarnock, meanwhile, have failed to score in half of their 10 games this season, and have been leaky at the back. Despite their early season form suggesting they would be fighting it out in the top half, the Ayrshire side have so far failed to convince. McCann's side will be looking to reach just a second semi-final since they won the competition back in 2012, which would give "everyone a lift", according to the Kilmarnock boss.
The match at Rugby Park on Saturday will be a crucial test for both teams, with the winner booking a semi-final place at Hampden.
