The $15 million transfer of Zavier Gozo from Real Salt Lake to Crystal Palace has been confirmed by ESPN Soccer. This move marks another step forward in terms of U.S. players heading to Europe, with the demand and cost of transfer fees increasing over the years.

The transfer fee of $15 million is a significant increase from the $5 million paid for Tyler Adams' move from Red Bull New York to RB Leipzig in 2018. This increase makes sense, given the maturation of youth team methodologies and overseas contacts since Adams' move. The change in calendar, aligning with European transfer windows, is also expected to lead to more deals getting done.

As the U.S. pool of young players continues to grow, clubs overseas are taking notice. Cavan Sullivan, a 16-year-old midfielder for Philadelphia Union, has already agreed to move to Manchester City after he turns 18 in September 2027. Sullivan has shown impressive skills, scoring three goals and recording six assists in 1,205 minutes of play in all competitions. His successful take-on percentage is 51.6%, 10 points above the league and tournament average.

The next step for Sullivan will be to see if he moves straight to Manchester City or goes out on loan to gain more experience.
