Usain Bolt, an eight-time Olympic champion, has a history of playing football, having previously joined the Australian A-League club Central Coast Mariners in 2018. During his time with the Mariners, Bolt scored two goals in a friendly match. He left the club after just eight weeks. The 40-year-old has since retired from athletics, having last competed in 2017.
Bolt will now join Wythenshawe Vets FC, a team that boasts several high-profile players, including former Manchester City midfielder Stephen Ireland, who is a player-coach at the club. The team's squad also features other notable names, such as Emile Heskey, Antonio Valencia, Papiss Cissé, Nedum Onuoha, Joleon Lescott, Marc Albrighton, and Danny Drinkwater. Wythenshawe Vets FC competes in the Premier Division of the Cheshire Veterans Football League.
