According to L'Équipe Football, the Union Foot de Touraine, currently 2nd in its N3 group from last season, will replace Canet in National 1. The decision was made by the FFF's executive committee, which met on Tuesday. The club from Indre-et-Loire had been fighting for promotion after being overlooked in favour of Canet, who took the place of Girondins de Bordeaux in National 1 following their exclusion from the national championships.
The commission of organization of the FFF will now meet to decide in which group of N1 the Union Foot de Touraine will be placed. This change will have a ripple effect on the league, with the group of National 2 that was supposed to include the Union Foot de Touraine now being left with one fewer team. As a result, this group will have one fewer team to descend in the event of relegation at the end of the season.
The Bureau exécutif de la Ligue de football amateur (BELFA) will validate the changes made by the FFF's executive committee. The Union Foot de Touraine's promotion to National 1 is subject to validation by BELFA on Tuesday evening.
