Thomas Tuchel, the England boss, has suggested that the recent guilty verdict against Manchester City may have affected the club's players. Three Manchester City players - Nico O'Reilly, Marc Guehi and Elliot Anderson - were in the starting XI for England's 3-2 loss to Spain on Saturday. Tuchel stated: "Not for me but I can imagine for the Manchester City players. For the players who have more time than me, for sure I can imagine they talk about it."
Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane also suggested that the news of the verdict may have affected the players. He said: "In top level football you want to be focused and they certainly would have been affected. To see so many top-class players make so many mistakes - it has certainly affected them."
Three of the four Manchester City players involved made significant errors at Wembley. Guehi was tackled by Lamine Yamal on the edge of his own box, allowing Spain to score their opener. Rodri's late challenge on Jude Bellingham led to an England penalty, which Harry Kane struck against the crossbar after slipping.
