Transfer Agreement Reached

Sporting Portugal and Nottingham Forest have reached an agreement over the transfer of Ousmane Diomandé. The 22-year-old central defender will travel to England this weekend to undergo a medical, with a potential five-year contract at Forest pending the outcome.

Contract and Transfer Details

Diomandé's transfer is valued at €40 million. Sporting Portugal is accepting half of the €80 million release clause included in his contract extension earlier this year. Diomandé initially signed with Sporting Portugal in January 2023, joining from FC Midtjylland for a reported €7.5-12.5 million, with a 20% sell-on clause.

Nottingham Forest's Summer Activity

This transfer marks Nottingham Forest's fourth significant signing this summer, following the arrivals of Xaver Schlager and Gustavo Sá. Forest has been active in the transfer market, with a focus on strengthening their defensive unit. The club has also taken control of midfielder Xaver Schlager on a free transfer from RB Leipzig and signed Gustavo Sá for €20 million from FC Famalicão.

Sporting Portugal's Summer Transfers

The transfer of Diomandé is the fourth major departure for Sporting Portugal this summer, following the sales of Geovany Quenda, Morten Hjulmand, and Francisco Trincão. The club has also received a significant sum from the sale of Alisson Santos to Napoli, as well as €16.5 million from the sale of Diogo Travassos to SC Braga.
