According to The Sun, Rooney wants to repeat or surpass his wife's performance and is motivated by the possibility of showing his four children how he will fare in the program's challenges.
Rooney has also recently secured a new TV show called 'Can You Beat Wayne Rooney?', where he will face guests from sports and entertainment in questions about football.
