According to Stade Rennais' director general Arnaud Pouille, the club was informed by the Ligue on Tuesday that there was an issue with the Parc des Princes' pitch. Paris Saint-Germain then contacted Stade Rennais on Tuesday evening to discuss the match inversion. The Commission des compétitions checked the Parc des Princes' pitch on Wednesday morning and found it to be impractical, leading to a meeting between the two clubs where Stade Rennais agreed to the match inversion, but with certain conditions.

These conditions included no financial losses for Stade Rennais, the closure of the Rose Basse stand for Le Mans, and the application of the current rules to avoid consequences for the rest of the calendar. Arnaud Pouille has confirmed that he will attend the next Ligue meeting on August 28 to defend the interests of Stade Rennais, including article 501, which allows Stade Rennais to host Paris Saint-Germain on March 6. The question of the match return between the two teams will be discussed at this meeting.
