Palacios, who has made 186 appearances for Leverkusen, scoring 15 goals, has left the BayArena to pursue a new challenge in the Premier League. Leverkusen's managing director of sport Simon Rolfes explained that the transfer fulfils Palacios' wish to prove himself in the Premier League after his outstanding spell in the Bundesliga. Palacios himself expressed his gratitude to the club, stating that he grew up as a footballer at Leverkusen and will always feel connected to the team and its fans.
Palacios joined Leverkusen from River Plate in 2020 and was a member of the team that won the club's first Bundesliga title in 2023/24 alongside the DFB Cup. He also featured in the FIFA World Cup 2022 with Argentina. The 27-year-old is the seventh permanent outgoing of the summer for Leverkusen, who will now travel to Elversberg on Saturday to begin the Bundesliga term.
