The OFC has issued a statement in support of the NZF's decision to withdraw its support for Infantino, but also expressed its satisfaction with the progress made in Oceania football under the current leadership of FIFA. The confederation has encouraged FIFA to view the evaluation of the commercialization plans as an opportunity to implement necessary changes.
In contrast, the majority of European countries, including the Netherlands, have withdrawn their support for Infantino, with Ireland following suit on Thursday. Many Asian and North and Central American countries have also distanced themselves from the FIFA President, who is still backed by some countries in South America and Africa. Infantino is hoping to be re-elected for a third term in 2027.
