NEC has signed Gabriel Brás, a 22-year-old Portuguese defender, on a one-year loan from FC Porto. Brás will wear the number 73 jersey for NEC. The defender is the captain of Jong Portugal, the youth team of the Portuguese national team. Brás can play on both the right and in the centre, providing NEC with more options in the defensive line.
Trainer Dick Schreuder has stated that the team needs multiple additional defenders, and this move is part of NEC's efforts to strengthen their team.
