Morocco and Algeria Qualify for the World Cup
Morocco secured their spot after defeating South Africa 2-1 in a match played in Rabat. Algeria won 2-1 against the Ivory Coast to become the first African team to qualify for the World Cup.
Qualifying Process Continues
The African Women's Cup of Nations will continue with the remaining quarterfinal matches. These matches will determine the next two teams to qualify for the World Cup. The Concacaf W Championship will also be held in November, with the top four teams qualifying directly for the World Cup.
World Cup Qualifying Process
The 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup will be held in Brazil. The qualifying process has been ongoing since 2023. The World Cup will feature 32 teams. The qualifying process will continue until February 2027. The Oceania region has already qualified the New Zealand team for the World Cup and will be represented by Papua New Guinea in the qualifying tournament.
Next Steps
The first phase of the qualifying tournament will take place in December. The final three teams to qualify for the World Cup will be determined in the final phase, scheduled for February 2027. The United States, the four-time world champion, will face El Salvador. Jamaica will play against Costa Rica, while Canada will face Panama. Haiti, led by coach Pia Sundhage, will play against Mexico.
