Milo Beimers, an 18-year-old goalkeeper, has left Glentoran in the Irish Premiership to search for a new club in continental Europe. He is undertaking a 2,000-mile van trip across Europe with his dad, Kevin, to find a new club. The van, which belongs to his sister, Charlie, has held up on the journey so far, despite initially being in bad shape. The family converted the van into a home on wheels, complete with a bed, storage, and a cooking area.
Beimers has trials set up in Spain and Portugal, and will also train with a London-based club. He is learning Spanish to help integrate on his trials and is open to the opportunities that this unique approach has brought. Beimers holds a Dutch passport through his grandfather, which helps with player registration with European clubs. This has already opened doors that would probably have remained closed if he had chosen to stay in Belfast.
Beimers was born in Northern Ireland to Canadian parents and represented Canada at the Under-17 World Cup in 2025. His ultimate goal is to play against some of the biggest sides in Europe. "I want to play against Barcelona or Real Madrid. Give me one game against one of those big clubs and then I'll just retire after that," he said, jokingly.
Beimers and his dad will continue their journey, with their next destination still unknown.
