However, his career was put on hold after a severe car accident in December 2024, which left him with multiple fractures in his femur. He was operated on and had a rod with screws and nails inserted in his right thigh to repair the quadruple fracture. He was unconscious for around 45 minutes after the accident and was rescued by paramedics and taken to the hospital by helicopter.
After recovering from the accident, Antonio played for the West Ham youth team and later joined Al-Sailiya in Qatar in 2025. He has a total of 323 games and 83 goals for West Ham, and his experience in the Premier League makes him an attractive option for Watford, who are looking to return to the top flight. According to The Sun, Antonio will be evaluated by coach Alessio Dionisi in training with the team before a final decision is made on whether he will join the team.
Antonio has a history of being close to joining new teams, having been on the verge of signing with Brentford and Leicester in the past, but ultimately not making the move. He is now looking to join Watford and be part of their team as they begin their Championship campaign against Southampton this weekend.
