Mason Mount Injury Overshadows Manchester United's Draw with PSG
Manchester United's friendly match against Paris Saint-Germain ended in a 1-1 draw, with Bryan Mbeumo scoring the equaliser for United in the 32nd minute. However, the result was overshadowed by an injury to midfielder Mason Mount, who suffered a foot injury in the match and lasted fewer than 20 minutes.
Mount has been hampered by injury problems since joining Manchester United from Chelsea in 2023. This is the latest in a series of injury setbacks for the England midfielder, who has been restricted to 54 league appearances during his first three seasons with United.
Tom Heaton suffered a right hamstring problem while rushing out to make a clearance in the second half. Matvey Safonov, PSG's goalkeeper, escaped punishment for clattering into Joshua Zirkzee way outside his area.
The draw was a creditable result for Manchester United, who were 1-0 down to PSG at the time of Mount's injury. However, the injuries to Mount and Heaton will be a concern for United manager Michael Carrick ahead of the Premier League campaign.
United have two more friendly fixtures, against Leeds and AC Milan, before launching their Premier League campaign away to Hull on 22 August.
