Marcelo Weigandt, who played 88 official games for Boca in three different periods, has been confirmed to be leaving the club on loan. The 30-year-old Argentine midfielder won four titles with Boca, including the Superliga 2019/20, the Copa Argentina 2021, the Copa de la Liga 2022, and the Liga Profesional 2022. Weigandt's departure comes after Boca's qualification to the quarterfinals of the Sudamericana.

Weigandt's loan move to Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito, a club competing in the Copa Libertadores, has been confirmed. The Ecuadorian club is currently in the quarterfinals of the Sudamericana, having drawn 1-1 with their Brazilian opponents in the first leg. Weigandt will have the option to buy if certain objectives are met during his loan spell.

Weigandt's departure from Boca marks the end of his third stint with the club. He initially joined Boca in 2018, before moving to Inter Miami on loan in 2020. Weigandt returned to Boca in 2022, but was quickly included in the list of players not considered by coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena. Weigandt's departure is one of several exits from Boca, with Ander Herrera, Edinson Cavani, Juan Barinaga, Marcelo Saracchi, Lucas Janson, Agustín Martegani, and Nicolás Orsini also leaving the club.
