Marcelo Tinelli was vice-president of San Lorenzo before becoming president in 2019, with over 80% of the votes. During his presidency, the club won the Copa Libertadores. Tinelli had to take two licences due to his work commitments. He stated that he had to take two licences because of his work.

Tinelli defended his economic contribution to San Lorenzo, stating that he used his professional income to contribute money to the institution. He claimed that he never took a penny from the club, instead living off his profession and donating the money to San Lorenzo. The club currently maintains a debt of around 70 million dollars, a major concern for the fans.

Tinelli denied benefiting financially from the club and stated that he could help San Lorenzo again in the future. However, he did not confirm a return to the club's politics.
