Jorge Jesus, who currently manages the Portuguese national team, expressed his opposition to the reform during a press conference on Saturday. He believes that the reduction in foreign players will not improve the quality of Brazilian players. Jesus pointed to Portugal as an example, stating that the country has a strong tradition of developing top-class players, and that coaches in Portugal are allowed to field teams with up to 11 foreign players if they choose to do so.
Jesus also highlighted the importance of calendarization and the development of young players in Brazil. He expressed concern that the reform could lead to the abolition of state championships, which he believes are crucial for the growth of Brazilian players.
